Açaí Berry Gelato 49 - Shmu the Canna Prophet house curation
If you’re familiar with the story of Gelato, you remember that there are about six cuts of them floating around. 33 and 41 are the most popular today, but the others are still unique and interesting in their own rite. Açaí Berry Gelato is the #49 cut, and it’s certainly earned its name. Of all the original cuts, it’s probably the least gassy but definitely the most crushed berry forward and flavor coating fruity. The nugs are really dense, if I didn’t know better I would say they’re PGR’d but Gelato really is just dense like that. The nug is pretty massive and fresher on blend than it looks. Once ground up the heavier nutty notes set in and this also translates to the front note of the flavor. I personally find Gelato 49 to have the most complex flavor of the bunch, but it’s not quite as saturated as Bacio and especially 33. It still stains the palate, but it’s not “blunt weed.” The potency is also I think the most relaxing and sedative of all the Gelatos, not exactly the lean effect, which also has less of a crash. Overall, this is another solid example of candy done correctly in Maine. Other things from this price point, especially on Shmu’s menu, have been higher quality outright, but I don’t think I’ve seen a Gelato at this price point that smokes or tastes better, and certainly never one as clean.
