Dubble Sour - Terp Chaser 420

A lot of very good flower passes through my docket, but when something truly spectacular comes around, that’s when this job gets exciting. Dubble Sour from Terp Chaser is the first thing I’ve tried in 2025 that has truly impressed me outright, even with the astronomical expectations I had about this sample. To start, this hybrid of (Sour Dubble x Daywrecker Diesel) is bred by Melting Pot Farm, who you may remember from such monsters as Coastal Collision (ECSD x SFV OG) and Albariño (Lemon Tree x Grape Pie). The production already stands on the shoulder of a giant, but Terp Chaser and East Coast Flavor Factory take the cut past the finish line in stride. Roger Boofington showed me Terpchaser for the first time mid-2023 and I was thoroughly impressed by the eye appeal and freshness. This batch that was submitted by Harbor Headstash is the kind of flower people talk about when they complain that “flower isn’t sticky anymore.” Smaller scale growers often leave sugar leaves on the plant when they’re extra resinous, and I’ve experienced a lot of fluffy sour over the years with sticky sugar leaves to fill in the gaps. Even though Terp Chaser went for more of a “homegrown” trim job, the nugs are dense enough that the sugarleaves aren’t hiding anything. When you try to break the nugs down, your fingers will be stuck from the sap, and the innards shimmer even brighter. It’s samples like this that tear me between smoking it as fast as possible and saving it to show all my friends, but breaking this one out feels almost sacramental. Once you blend it down, you’re greeted with an explosion of sour and gas terps at perfect freshness and textbook cure. The scent and the flavor rely on the citrus rind lemon notes you see on a lot of Sour Bx hybrids and Headband-likes, but there’s also an earthy bite and a funky lingering halitosis. The flavor on the smoke hits modern levels of saturation, absolutely coating the palate in sour, but the sample was of a lushness that allowed me a tasty second hit in a Flower Pot bowl, which is rare in testing. The onset is rapid and predatory of calm and euphoria with a strong muscle relaxation effect. The vibe is uplifting but not so far as energizing, and it’s got a lot of relaxation without being sedative; a balanced hybrid. The effects have pretty long duration but the body feeling lasts longer than the head change, and I personally love smoking this for workouts. This type of daytime smoke with no edge and no crash is a bit difficult to come by, but Harbor Headstash has a knack for curating flavors with pleasant and eclectic effects, which is probably why he’s the only one in the DMV that carries these hidden gems. Overall, this flower really impressed me in basically every regard. My expectations were already quite high given the word and confidence from hardcore enthusiasts I trust as well as previous experiences with the producer, and even still Dubble Sour knocked it out of the park. It thoroughly checks every box, and it’s one of the best Sour hybrids I’ve tried. If you’re a Sour lover, this is a must-try.
