Blue Lobster - Maine Trees

There’s not a lot to say about this strain that I haven’t said before. If you want to see my take from six months ago you can read it in Leafly. I’m going to keep this review mostly to this batch but for the uninitiated, Blue Lobster is Maine Trees’ flagship selection, and it’s essentially Maine’s winningest strain from Maine’s winningest brand. Since the last time I smoked it, Blue Lobster has seemingly went from Maine Trees’ six week waiting list strain to something they can finally meet demand on. Blue Lobster is one of those strains that has varied batch to batch in terms of quality outright, but this one is far and away the best I’ve experienced to date. It checks all the boxes like you’d expect, such as being incredibly resinous which translates to boxes you dream of flower checking like being lint-roller sticky. I believe part of why Blue Lobster caught on is because it looks purple from the outside, thanks to its Apples & Bananas x Eye Candy genetics which express lots of purple and black in the outer calyxes and sugar leaves but blend down to a neutral green in the grinder. But on top of that the nose and the taste are to die for on this batch, expressing this almost mythical gassy raspberry slurpee aroma. This particular batch really leans on the Gelato 41 and sweet Cookies gas notes and it slams the palate with that Biscotti halitosis. The blend of genetics also makes for a really cozy head change. It’s uplifting but not quite euphoric, eye-droop but not quite slumpy, and is overall full-body relaxing with good potency that doesn’t have any crash. Overall, even though I’ve felt this strain was a bit overhyped in the past, this batch shows how high the ceiling is for this strain as well as how much staying power this genetic has. In just about every way, this particular batch exceeds the hype and has truly made me believe in Blue Lobster again. If you got lucky and hit this batch of Lobster, you’re enjoying one of the strongest East Coast contenders of the year at an excellent value and you should smoke it pridefully
