Alaskan Crab Legs - The TenCo.
TenCo has had something of a "top of the heap" reputation both in the US and now in Europe and Thailand for the last few years now, and the formula on how they keep this up has become clear. They test cuts and strains for sometimes a year before they actually release it as a formal product and they lean into the paths through which cannabis is marketed in order to fuel their R&D. Alaskan Crab Legs is basically in the middle part of its R&D, where they're getting batches out there but it hasn't really been built into a product yet. When the strain arrived, it came in the white square corner bag that has a white UV label on the back rather than a die cut mylar like the Nishi I reviewed recently. Inside the bag, the nugs are held in a black plastic case reminiscent of a to-go box, and despite the extra plastic waste, it works really well for keeping the buds from getting flattened, which was a problem with Nishi in the die cut bag. This segues us nicely into covering the appearance, and while the nugs are properly in tact, Alaskan Crab Legs is Z and therefore the nugs are not particularly pretty. This is not the most triched out version of Z I've seen, but it still reeks out of the case and gives the impression that it's some really decent indoor Z. If you've had Yellow Zushi from Tenco, this version of Z is really similar. It's very heavy on the citrus rind note, but is also quite gassy and leaves a solid halitosis. It's got very saturated flavor like you expect from Z, if you like the Z flavor generally you'll like this, but if you don't you won't. Like just about everything else from TenCo, this smokes really well, and it's very smooth and flavorful. For my body chemistry, Z hits really hard and it's just a very heavy very flow state type of strain for me. Alaskan Crab legs is a solid offering from TenCo, but to me it's notable that this batch of Z is Alaskan Crab Legs and not Yellow Zushi. Where Yellow Zushi is usually S tier Z, this is solidly A tier. Very good smoke that meets expectations, but I've had better stuff from TenCo. Overall, this is great smoke, but what determines whether it will be worth it for you is how much you really love Z.
