Papaya MAC - DC Source house curation

By all accounts I should absolutely hate this strain considering I basically refuse to smoke MAC and have gone on record thinking Papaya is kind of mid. Maybe the mix of them sort of cancels out the traits I find mid or maybe this hybrid just has undeniable game. I got this sample from DC Source, but it was also on other menus in the DMV at the time of testing. The nugs on this sample had the sort of Papaya morphology but with MAC resin, which is to say shiny mondo size heads. I wouldn’t say it’s the loudest nose off the nug, which is a bit surprising considering the reputation Papaya has for being super smelly as rosin, but the melon and sweetness is still reasonably distinctive. The nose opens up a little more on blend and it kind of smells like a thumbprint cookie or a hamantaschen where the astringent fruit note sits distinctly over the sugar cookie dough. These notes carry over to the flavor as well, where it really has that jelly and dough that hits all over the palate. The outright potency isn’t crazy, but the effect itself is incredibly slumpy, muscle relaxing, monotone and has a remarkable crash on the end of it. Despite this, I’ve been enjoying the smoking experience enough that I’m willing to put up with those effects. Overall, Papaya MAC is a great value smoke across the board, and I’m liking it much more than I would’ve ever expected. There’s a lot going on here that MAC and Papaya fans will love, so it tracks that it’s basically all sold out now.
