Secret Cookies - Only Smoke the Finest
Secret Cookies was one of the first strains I ever tried from an elite producer in Maine back in 2021, and more than three years later it remains a personal favorite. Full disclosure, I also designed the jar for this release, and frankly that’s a dream come true for me. I’ve made the joke for years that the secret of its success is that “there is no cookies” which is only half true, as Cookie is about three generations back despite being washed out by the Cherry Pie and the Bubba Kush in the lineage. The nug is a strong-stature, medium density multi-peaked monster that’s absolutely caked in resin. But the real secret is that this strain performs best under HPS lights, and it’s one of the clearest disparities in quality compared with LED versions, in a world where the difference is usually marginal and barely noticeable. Something about the HPS versions lock in the astringent kerosene aroma that takes it to another level over the cream soda base note. This strain is loud, absolutely reeking up the room with cherry fuel, that the nose truly erupts on blend. Every now and then, when I grind something up, immediately I get the thought “yeah this is the stuff” and this Secret Cookies did exactly that; it’s exactly the kind of strain that belongs in a jar like this. Smoking it did not disappoint, either. The nose perfectly translated to the flavor and coated the palate in sweet kerosene. Personally, my favorite part of Secret Cookies is the effect, and boy did it hit the spot. The effect is relaxing and supremely potent, and it’s pure stress relief almost the same way as Chem D. This is an effect I could recommend for any time of day, and put together with the enchanting flavors, it’s something you might smoke way too fast. Overall, Secret Cookies has remained remarkably consistent for finally flying the Firefly coop, but this version that’s made it down to the OSTF menu is elite. It’s a great example of one of my favorite strains, so it’s an easy recommendation from me.
