T-Bone - The TenCo.
It’s not a secret that I’m partial to Headbanger, but before it got popular in Maine, it also had a little run in the UK and EU propelled by Karma Genetics and Staks himself. We’ve been hearing for years that TenCo. had an incredible cut of Headbanger and that they grow it immaculate. This is not one of their living soil batches – it’s grown in coco – but some say that the diesel strains do better in inert media and hydro. The batches of Karma genetics I’ve had in coco are usually better than the soil ones, and I attribute this to the lack of terroir that accentuates the fuel notes. T-Bone is TenCo.’s Headbanger #8, a hybrid is ‘07 Sour Diesel IBL x Biker Kush, and unlike the other more purple Headbanger cut TenCo also uses, this one is mean and green. Personally, I find the green Headbangers to be louder and more flavorful and that was the case here too. It absolutely reeks of diesel fumes and the pungency translates to flavor saturation as well. While these nugs are a bit lacking in the eye appeal department, the freshness and how smoothly it smokes are A1. It’s in the upper echelon of pure palate coating ability for this brand, despite not being the modern flavor ravers like the Blue and Yellow Zushi. The effect is also uplifting and anxiety relieving which is what I like from a lot of the Karma gear, but is more in OG territory than Adderall-adjacent heirloom sour. Overall, like the Nishi and the Alaskan Crab Legs, the smoke is pretty good, but I still think this particular batch doesn’t quite hit TenTen status at what is clearly a TenTen price. While T-Bone does smoke really well and that’s what matters most, it’s a bit hard to recommend over the more local gas options that are all over the east coast.
